Only good way is to run an secondary gps system. Lojack or any of that stuff is not going to work if they're just towing or pulling it away. I vote something sweet and simple like passtime gps or maybe an iPhone hidden in the dash somewhere

the viper system I noted and (the one I have installed) does that, the gps unit can have a digital fence setting, the gps is on and active 24/7 if the vehicle leaves the fence area it sends a notification, not sure if it would trigger the alarm but you can def track it.

In my previous life I worked for a Rental car company, I used to go get keys cut for the nicest new cars and then come back after work and go cruise them around all night and bring them back in the morning, I could have stolen the whole lot if I had wanted to.

Yes they will but to program them on a 17+ you have to have 2 working keys to do a quick learn, otherwise it erases the original key with a 30 minute relearn

They can keep it, I’ll be at the dealer the next day with an insurance check. I would never want a stolen vehicle back.

My neighbors had a new F250 stolen out of their driveway (keys were in it ), they searched for days and weeks looking for it. Ended up found several states away in a theft ring bust. It wasn’t even close to the same condition it was stolen. They were sad they didn’t get it back.

I think I'm done driving anything that I like. Last 5 vehicles I've owned have either had attempted break ins or the current complete theft. Late model key less GM vehicles are extremely easy to steal. I'm going to buy something old with an actual key, a Subaru, Mitsubishi or some other undesirable vehicle to drive. Frustrating that you can't have anything nice or some a-hole will take it from you.

I guess sometimes there is something to be said for buying the base model.

No, you want mid model. I had an LS avy, and nothing was easy to upgrade. My LT now has most things ready to wire, and a lot are plug n play. I believe this happens often in most late model year designs as they make options standard. I will never understand why people buy first year models (and ***** about their shit suckin)...

I'm sorry that you got hit. I always think that it won't happen to me, but in the back of my mind I know that other than putting my truck in by the garage and blocking it in with my Pickup, there's no way to get it out. But again your never safe, no matter what kind of device you have installed. Very very sorry !

Frequently, when I pull onto my street, I look at all the cars and think about their high dollar values. We would not think about leaving cash out in the open, but we will leave our vehicles unlocked and some will leave keys in the vehicle without thinking twice about it. Between my Suburban and my kids Fusions I have close to $100k on the street based upon MSRP.
