Even if you were down to 4 quarts it should of had oil pressure. Unless chevy put the oil pickup location like 3 inches from the bottom of the pan. My Gallardo holds 10.5 quarts and the fill procedure is to put in 5 quarts and start in then add the rest, yes dry sump but still you should have had pressure.

Dry sump is totally different lol. My maserati is the same.

I wouldn't want to put 1/2 capacity in a traditional oiling system before start up. You will cavitate the pump and won't have enough lubrication or pressure.

I usually don't even check it after changing it. 8 qts out, 8qts in, and BOOM it's on the full mark every time.

It isn't an issue of the capacity changing, the issue will be a failure of the human kind.
Skipping a validation step doesn't make any sense.

Your playing with fire even if the pickup is at the very bottom. As it sucks it up and disperses the oil thru the engine the level keeps dropping until it begins to return to the sump. One bit of movement will slosh what little oil is there and create cavitation and loss of pressure.

Even back in high school a friend had one of those late 70s big boat buicks or oldsmobiles he kept getting a oil pressure warning light when he turned corners. Him and his dad finally changed the oil and what came out barely filled up a 1 quart bottle. So even with that little he still had pressure at times.

This is VERY GOOD NEWS!

Sucks this happened, but at least it didn't get drug out into a ******* match with GM / Chevy Dealer Service Department.

I’m so happy for you. I’ve heard horror stories about denials to things that should’ve been covered.
