2022 Denali Ultimate, what is everyone paying right now

Looking for a 22 Denali and wondering what folks are paying right now. Is inventory getting any better? Should I be offering under MSRP? Any tricks to getting a better deal?

Can you wait until 2023? There is going to be a lot more inventory and GM's competitors will have more inventory as well as brand new models.

In a world where buyers flush with cash exceed units available there are no rules.

And there seems to be a lot of cash out there now.
If prices do come back to what they were pre-Covid, there are going to be a lot of people underwater on their loans......

They will come back to reality at some point, they always do, Detroit cannot help itself and these are a mass produced product after all. I am fine with a white one or black but will not pay over MSRP. I guess I just have to wait and keep looking around. In the mean time I am fine driving my 15 S Class for a while longer, it is a spectacular car but I really want an SUV.

Chip shortages are anticipated to extend into 2023, inflation is projected to at least stay flat (which is above average), and traditionally, car prices do not retreat. My guess is dealers are reshaping their business model to rely on fewer units and higher spreads while manufacturers will be forced to increase prices to offset reduced delivery numbers. I’d be very surprised to see prices normalize and heavy cash incentives to return anytime soon. Nothing wrong with riding it out though if you like your current vehicle.

ETA: It killed me to pay MSRP - haven’t done that since I was young and dumb in my 20s. However I will say I more than made up for it when selling my existing vehicle as those prices are insane too.

Not sure what to think, I call some dealers and they want to tack on a fat surcharge over MSRP, while others have one or two in stock and the internet price they have on the GMC site is listed with no markup. These tend to be in smaller towns though so maybe the big dealers around me in Seattle think there are suckers that will overpay for Detroit steel. Miss the days of pitting them against each other on who can come closest to invoice. Oh well, the car I have now is worth almost as much as I paid for it 3 years ago. Bizarre.

There are a couple dealers that will go MSRP but they are in Idaho. Even Spokane, Tri Cities and Yakima will gouge you for Denali if you are from “out of town”

No different than homes, and there’s no sign in the future of that slowing down anywhere.

I call BS on all the talk of this being the norm for the next year or so. These are mass produced very expensive rigs and I suspect the dealers are dramatizing this a bit to justify gouging of customers. Just wait until the fed jacks up interest rates and auto loans start costing real money. People were saying the same things about toilet paper and cleaning supplies last year and now they are plentiful. GM is not Rolex, they make money on volume, not limiting production.

I am fine flying over to ID to pick up a rig if it saves me the drama and markup.

Dealers will keep selling them at markup prices as long as customers keep paying those prices.

I also think the prices will stay high. If they are selling them right now faster than they can be produced what is their incentive to bring the prices back down? Customers aren't just going to disappear if this is the vehicle they really want
