Don't know about the 22's, but on my 21 model I had to try a couple different apps to get one that would mirror my S21+. I remember X-cast wouldn't work, but Screen Mirroring did. Try experimenting a little. Couldn't hurt.

I currently have a case open with GM about this issue, and i also made a claim with BBB, and i sent off an email to [email protected], i am really very unhappy about this issue with no usb playback, and I'm going to go scorched earth until they hear me. I really dont care about miracast or rear maps view, but no USB playback is a serious issue.

I explained everything to the dealership and they definately agree with me that this is not a premium experience anymore, and the screens are just basic functionality now, they shouldn't even sell the option on their trucks for 2022, its going to cause a ton of grief for them, they had no idea how bad the system became.
Good luck. I didn't see anywhere that USB playback was a guaranteed feature that you didn't get.

I'm glad for this thread. Add me to the list of frustrated buyers. Our '22 Suburban RST was delivered to us today. The only app we have on the screen is Hulu, which requires an in-car subscription (assuming that means not a regular Hulu streaming subscription). I managed to connect the chromecast via HDMI and vehicle wifi, but I could not get my Galaxy S21+ Ultra to cast. I will try one of our Chromecasts with Google TV tomorrow. Might try the new Xbox S via HDMI as well. Will connect with my dealership (an hour away) and a more local one, then corporate and BBB. Will continue to update if I learn anything important...good luck to everyone and thanks to everyone sharing their experiences and workarounds so far.

I cant get my galaxy s21 to connect either. Some videos showed an app to cast but it wont work either

22's don't do screen mirroring/miracast - they were supposed to offer wifi streaming (using DLNA technology) but haven't figured out how that works outside of the idea that the screens and streaming source would have to be on the same wifi network - and you'll need a DLNA server app on your device.

The Entertainment Studio App on the main front screen can control the rear screens...and control what apps are visible on them- have you looked at that setting to see if Hulu or Youtube are there but hidden?

have a 21 AT4 Yukon and my S20+ connects every time…note that the newer galaxy phones have a pre installed app called “smart view“ that is accessible via the drop down apps…Samsung’s own mirroring app

I can confirm Hulu shows up for us too now, but still no YouTube which is what the kids want.

WHat happens when you select HULU? Mine takes me to a screen that says i need a video streaming account and to call Onstar but Onstar doesnt seem to know anything about it.

The interesting thing about the inclusion of Hulu is that it seems to be a brower based version of Hulu vs. the Android app. So not really an app, but rather a locked URL for Hulu accessed by a web browser. Interesting in that you could then use any browser based app if they simply gave you access to the web browser itself. Still a positive showing they can push new functionality out to the RSE.

On the "streaming account", mine said the same thing initially but it went away a day later. I have the unlimited plan that came with the purchase. Works fine now.

I personally LOVE the RSE on my 21 Denali. We use an Apple TV and the built in WiFi and stream live TV all the time. I don't use any of the OEM apps on the head unit or the RSE, all Apple CarPlay and Apple TV. I've also had my son and three hockey teammates in route to multiple away games playing NHL 22 using an XboxOne. I love having the ability to pair their bluetooth headphones and not use the lousy GMC units. I felt the same way as a lot at first. The only thing I miss is mirrored video on the main screen in the dash while parked.
Update for anyone interested. I ordered an Apple TV mount, some metal over the door hooks, a short power cable and hdmi cable from Amazon and put this little holder together on Saturday. Can now power slide the console without it being in the way. Also don't have to worry about it being kicked or stepped on.

I cut the bottom off the hooks, uncovered only the portion of the 3m tape to mount the hooks and used some of the little foam pieces to protect the console. Doesn't interfere with the rear climate control. Just lifts off when not in use.
