I have had my reverse automatic braking go off a couple times backing out of my driveway...it got my attention...
If you have the guts to do it, get on an interstate, set your adaptive cruise, and then exit behind someone else on the ramp and let your truck slow you to the stop behind the vehicle in front of you...it does work...it is a bit unnerving...lets just say I would get on the brakes myself a bit sooner than the vehicle does it for you...but it does indeeed bring you to a complete stop. I always have my foot about 0.25" above the brake pedal when I have done this.
Unfortunately I don't have adaptive cruise because GM doesn't include basic features which every other manufacturer does on their lower end models (I've got an LT)

Interesting. Yeah, mine definitely does not do this which makes me wonder if it's not actually working.
if there is a setting for distance, try setting it to farthest away and see if it makes any difference.
if not take it to the dealer and have them check it out

Yeah, it does have a setting for distance (and it shows either a green or orange vehicle in the dash depending on if it thinks you're too close) and it's already set to furthest away. Yeah I'll mention it to them. No idea how you even determine if this feature works though without nearly wrecking it lol

Exactly. I'm going to ask the dealer I guess. I need to go back in for some fixes and it's still under warranty so might as well ask. Mine definitely has not ever braked on its own in the nearly three years I've owned it
Same situation for me. I always wonder if the brakes would be automatically applied if I didn't take over...but it seems awfully close for it to decide to brake at that point. I just checked to make sure "alert and brake" was on, and it is. Keep us posted what the dealer says please!

i'm sure they have a way, could be a sensor test or even a qr placard that is read thru software, no telling with this new stuff

Hopefully so. The sensor thing could be a clue. My vehicle shipped missing a few chips since I built it during covid. I drove it nearly a year and a half without a handful of features because is missing microchips. Given my experience with GM at this point, it wouldn't shock me if something was overlooked and it's literally just missing something

My 22 Denali does the same by flashing red on the HUD but no actual braking. The ONLY time it has done any emergency braking, was when someone was standing on a thin medium and the truck thought they were on the road. Scared the shit out of me. It braked hard for a split second and then kept on rolling as if it knew it made a mistake.

I find it super dangerous inadequate tech, like all of the tech features on my truck, and turned it off. When it was on, it loved things that were yellow like school busses and big curve signs and would flash and brake when I passed them. Not every time, but often enough that it was unacceptable. The lane keeping assist "drives like a drunk person" according to my 15 year old daughter and is equally useless. No warning indicators on the mirrors, which I could actually use, but these useless things that don't work and should never have been released to the public half-developed, and the autostop (which I disabled) instead.

After 2.5 years and 50K miles I have learned to live with the tech but my next truck will be a custom built GMT 400 done the way I want. It will be half the price of new without all of the BS on it.
