any thoughts on whether using sport regularly can hurt long term engine reliability?

just mpg if you take care of it, driving it sporty means you should follow a extreme duty maintenance schedule, it will show (or should show) the maintenance tables in your owners manual, things like brake pads and tires may wear out sooner.

The programming changes in sport mode seem really mild to me. Can’t imagine the drive mode itself having any impact on engine reliability.

I think if you were driving hard enough to impact reliability then a 6000lb suv isn’t the right vehicle for that use anyway!

Liked but not liked. Yeah, even on my BMW M5 it defaults to a "normal" mode, but from my perspective, that is proper as some people might "get on it" before letting the engine get to proper temps and cause internal issues. It is what it is I suppose. Thanks

Just found out that the auto stop/start eliminator retains the settings for not only auto stop/start, but also all other setting in that cluster of settings (lane assist, rear power switch, etc).

Wondering if a similar switch can be made to retain the sport mode setting as well.

I have the auto start/stop eliminator...doesn't retain Sport Mode.

theoretically it could be done with a mircoswitch, it would have to be a custom job though. a microswitch could be made to activate the button x amount of times each time the vehicle is started, so instead of you having to press the button the switch does it automatically
