Anyone ridding 22's on stock braking system? I plan on getting 22's in the next month, I need to know if I would be ok with the stock brakes and rotors for a while or should I upgrade them now? I have two buddies on 22's and they are on stock brakes, rotors and haven't had any problems. Thoughts!!! I will probably get new brakes because they squeek every now and again. Thanks.

Two shops have quoted me $1250 for wheels and tires. I don't want a cheesy looking set up and when I looked at the wheels on monday it was dark so I couldn't get it good view of them....will go back when the roads clear. I have quite a few wheels to choose from. First time buying custom wheels and my buddies said that is a good price for 22's.

You're asking a lot of stock brakes to stop that much extra wheel, tire and overall extra weight. I'm sure you'll be ok for a while but eventually you'll want to upgrade.

I'm running stocks with no issues, but am converting over to a full Wilwood setup front and rear very soon...

Stock will be fine BUT you will take a few extra feet to stop...you'll get used to it quickly.

I've had my 22's on a 99 Denali and now my 03 Yukon with no problems. A little more stopping distance is required not much. You'll be fine.

not much of a difference from stock to 22" Just a little. The only thing is the rotor looks small back there when you first switch. Depending on your wheel. I would mine going with the Baer eradispeed setup.

when I went from 22s (and slightly oversized tires) back to OEM 20s, the amount of braking I got back was incredible... enough that I would never ever run 22s again.

something like 20+ feet from 60.

It was like driving a whole other truck.

Or going from a fat towncar, to a midsized sedan.

So yes, get the brakes upgraded as quickly as you can. I have avoided 3 accidents that I would have had no chance of avoiding (stopped within 3 feet) on 22s.

Bingo. This is not only a driveabiilty issue but it's also a safety issue. Driveability will be sacrificed but it won't be terrible..... However, I would never risk the safety of myself or others just because I wanted my truck to look "cool" on 22s and cut a major corner by leaving the stock brakes.

There are some affordable upgrades out there.....
