I have an 09 Tahoe with power assist running boards and I was considering ordering the black KMC Slide rims with the following tires - 285/40R24 XL Yokohama Parada Spec-X Blackwall.

Is Tire Rack the best way to go for this? The Yokohamas are the only tires that Tire Rack has in stock for this rim.

Also, when I am in the checkout process, I get a note from TR that if the OD is greater than 32", the tires may rub the liner. It looks like the OD for these, are close to 33".

So, I started digging through the forum and it looks like some people bought the Nitto 420S 295/35/24 tires for their Tahoes. I was wondering if they have any issues when mounted, as when I went to the site that calculates the OD, it's still showing that I'm over by .12 inches (32.12).

If it does rub, is there another tire that people are using that's a better fit? I don't really know much about cars, so I don't know that I could use a heat gun to reform the liner, etc.

Also, how do I know if the tire is compatible with the rim, and when would I need spacers, etc.?

Sorry for the basic questions, but I know nothing. Is there anything I'm forgetting to ask that I need to know?

Go with 295/35/24.. if your not lowered you shouldnt have any rubbing issues. Only rubbing issues you may have is slight rub up front, in which you can use a heat gun to push the liner back some... Dont go w 285/40/24... 295/35/24 is the most common for 24s. Or if you want wider 305/35/24

Thanks B.G.

If you have time for a few more questions, where would you order the tires if it were you and what brand tire would you go with?

Are you sure that the 295/35/24 is compatible with the KMC Slide? For some reason, Tire Rack is showing that it has that size, but not matching it with the rim.

Thanks again.

If I were you I'd run a 305/35/24. Had those on our suburban with power steps when it was lowered, slight rubbing. Went with a 295/35 and there was no rubbing, but didnt like the sidewall on a 10" wide wheel.

If you have no intentions of running a drop kit, go 305/35. :)

I have 24" KMC Slides with Nitto 420s 295/35/24...no rubbing issues and no issues with the tire fitting the rim (obviously)...I went with 295 instead of 305 because I didn't want to deal with any rubbing issues...I don't know the difference in running boards, but I dont think your going to rub anyway with 295's.
As far as where to get the tires, I say decide which tire you want, find it online for as cheap as you can, take it to discount tire and get it from them, they will price match. If you buy from them you get free life time rotation and some other crap that makes it worth it.

I agree, I have 295/35/24's and theres no rubbing and it looks good in proportion to the rim size, not too much sidewall but not too little either. I got my wheels and tires from www.performanceplustire.com they have really good prices and come mounted/balanced/nitrogen filled and are shipped for free.

Thanks guys. Anyone know anywhere besides Performance Plus Tire? PPT has the KMC Slides for the Tahoe in chrome, but it looks like the required bolt pattern for the Tahoe is 6-139 and PPT only has the chrome with that bolt pattern. The only Slides in black PPT carries have the bolt pattern 6-135. I would like to get it all from the same place if possible so that the TPMS will be installed, tired will be filled with nitrogen, mounted, and balanced.

You dont have to buy everything from the same place...i bought my slides from craigslist, tires and sensors from ebay...took everything to discount tire for mounting balancing and programming my hoe for the new sensors. And if your wondering all 4 wheels and all 4 tires will fit in the tahoe, just take out the third row, fold up the second row, and you can figure it out from there. Good luck finding what you need.
