I'm running fine had 24's since 33,000 miles and not one problem (knock on wood) you mean front end problems as in suspension right?

I just got more details from my dad he said the guy said the weight creates problems in the front end because rim weight and the weight of the truck already. I guess suspension stuff like tie-rods and shocks and stuff like that.

I have 46,000 miles so I know I will have to change some stuff.

hmmm never heard of that but I could definitley be wrong I have a family friend who has a new navigator on 28's and never had any suspension problems and a range on 26's, 64 impala on daytons and his son had a tahoe on 26's and I don't think they ever had any problems but they moved so I wouldn't know now I just never heard of that.

26's are pretty damn heavy (so are 24's) and they will wear your suspension components a bit faster because it's gotta work harder to control that unsprung weight. It isn't going to kill the stuff right away but things like shocks and ball joints will go prematurely. Cost of looking good.
Needing bigger brakes is not necessary. The stock brakes are totally adequate for what most people need. It's really not that big a deal to go up to 26 inch wheels. For me the rubbing was the worst part but once that's solved it's just like riding on smaller wheels for me. I would never go back though...love the look.

I say get 26s and dont worry bout it. Your gonna replace all of it anyways with better shocks and performance stuff anyways so why bother getting what you dont really want. Your gonna keep your ride a while im assuming? Youll get the bug even if you dont have the money. Save up, thats what most of us do anyways....moral, get what you want and dont look back.

That's what I'm doing exactly saving up. if I can get 100,000 miles out of this truck I'm good. I wasn't planning on replacing ALL of it.lol. I was thinking maybe doing a 2/4 drop. So I would do spindles and replace bearings while it was apart and do springs in the back. Maybe shocks at 80,000 miles or something. This will be my only ride for the next 2 years at least. I only put maybe 20,000 miles MAX a year.

So how much would you say you have spent for new suspension? For example shocks and stuff just so after I get my wheels I know to put money aside just in case. I was going to throw new pads on and see how I like it. I have never drove a vehicle with wheels bigger than 20's so I will be learning the whole time.

So far I've replaced shocks (they were done before the wheels though) and ball joints. Those are the related parts and were less than $1000 together...put in myself so no labor. The rear suspension won't be as likely to wear early as the front. I'd say your looking at no more than $1000 or so worst case. Parts for these trucks are fortunately very cheap.

I was thinking something like $3,000 or some outrageous number.

Also how do you guys feel about buying tires off EBay?
I haven't looked around me yet at local shops, but I saw some 26" Dcenti's for $800 something per set from a couple of Sellers with good feedback. I have used eBay for awhile so I know to send messages and ask questions before buying so I have proof if I get burned.
I just found out that Discount tire price matches but I don't know if they honor EBay prices.

From personal experience, if you get 24s you'll end up getting 26s later. But as a member posted previous, 26s are hard to get rid of if u wanted to down the road. I got my 2crabe no 11 for 2800 out the door. Year later sold them for 1100 :/ guess people are scared of the size. But damn they look clean.

Did you go to a local shop or online?

So I mentioned to my parents that I'm thinking of getting 26's and my dad said. He talked to a guy at a tire shop and the guy said. "That all those big rims end up messing up your front end and that he sees cars come back all the time with front end problems"

Is there any truth to this? Also has anyone had problem since running big wheels and tires.

I know eventually I will have to upgrade brakes and probably change my bearings, but I think that's about it.

Not true. Of course the steering components will wear out quicker than a 20" setup ran on similar roads but that is expected. It is just like how steering/suspension components wear quicker on rural roads compared to highway roads.
To say it will "mess up the front end" is inaccurate. Forged 3 piece 26s on Pirelli rubber will be the same weight (or lighter) than the stock 20" whee/tire setup.
Yeah the aftermarket wheels/tires are heavier but they are not 40" tires on 24" rims haha.

I have those tires and I like them. I know they are cheap but honestly they are a great tire. Very good in the wet and light snow and grippy in the dry. They balanced very well and no vibrations or road noise. I have had lots of different tires of all brands so I'm pretty experienced with the good and bad. These tires exceeded every one of my expectations and are a lot better than some expensive tires I've had. I would definitely buy them again...can't beat them for the money.
