Gotcha, the specifics would have to be verified from DuraBurb. Regardless, the architecture is there on the 3500 so it’s a proven method for frame / chassis swaps with or without a little fab work

Correct. I think the swap would have to be Suburban 3500 because when looking at the wheel bases of the Silverados, they are different than the Suburbans. Quick search shows the Suburban at 130” and Silverado at 133-167”. Possible trimming on the short wheelbase but likely not ideal.

Engines are considered very good and long lasting. The transmissions have a bit of a checkered history... the torque converters are known to fail and then send metal through the whole transmission taking it out. Some people will upgrade the TC in advance, and then also get a tune to change the use of the lockup function to help keep the trans healthy for longer.

They also can have electrical issues - mine had problems with the CANBUS network crashing causing a no-crank condition that turned out to be the OnStar module. Others have issues with the BCMs, the ABS modules, and so on. Unfortunate side effect of modern vehicles. My power window switch just went out recently, which caused the truck to not recognize my door at all anymore, and caused a power draw that killed my battery. Again.

Other than that, keep an eye out for rust, and normal wear and tear from mileage... u-joints and stuff like that.
