...hmmm

so then...I went from a 305/40/22....to a 265/65/17

The truck will be quicker..but lose top speed...I wonder if I'll notice better MPGs though?...also, I can turn sharper now..and without rubbing!!! :D

If you read the post you would know that i am getting 285/75/16's and instead of typing that all out i just put 285. 285/75/16>31.

I have a 97 2 door tahoe and when I bought tires for it I was told that because the way the truck sits the 285's will rub in the front but again it's a 2 door

I'll let you know how it goes. I've got 265's now, but I'm throwing on 285's and some pretty heavy steel wheels tomorrow. My baseline on a stock '99 4dr 4x4 is about 14.7MPG with mixed use driving. I'm usually toting around an 8 month old, so I have a pretty light foot. How you drive has an awful lot to do with how many MPG's you're getting. I'll post the results as soon as I burn through another tank.

My Tahoe had 265s and I didn't like how small they look in the wheel well. I now have 285s and love them. I didn't notice any difference in mpg at all but they do rub however its not rubbing hard enough to feel while inside the truck and it is not leaving any wear marks on the tire. The taller tire did give me some trouble last year while elk hunting. I hit a hard bump on a 4x4 road and the right front tire went up into the wheel well and bent the inside edge of the fender and chrome molding so I had to straighten it out with a hammer.
