Hello, I currently have 26s on my 07 tahoe, which produces a lot of rubbing when turning and also i have to be everyday on the lookout out not to hit potholes and curbs. I also heard that after a while it starts messing up your transmission and having other problems such as alignment problems. I also am going to travel a lot and i think is dangerous because is not much performance but just looks and I am kind of getting tired of feelling every little imperfection on the road. So i am going to sell them . I was wondering if I bought the 24 escalade replicas will i have any of the problems above (rubbing, transmission and alignments problems ect.)? And will be ok to travel with them or will i have to go with oem escalade 22s ?

Thank you in advance. Opinions are welcome on if i should get the escalade 24 replicas or escalade oem 22s or other aftermarket wheels. (I prefer the bigger wheel look but I also have to keep performance in mind.)

i love my 24s and nitto 420s..good tires make all the diff..these 295/35/24 ride way better then my 265/75/16 stocks..with like 1/4 the sidewall..any bigger wheel is going to be heavier and hurt performance, unless you shell out the coin for some billets or lightweight wheels..but that aside, performance definatly is worse with the 24s..stocks i can spin through 2nd, the big ass 24s i can barely get them to spin without braking it up to stall speed..so if that says anything

Have you had any transmission, alignment , or other issues concerning the size of the wheel?

With same brand/model tires, 24s and 26s will ride very close to the same. So for ride, it is not worth downgrading size for a similar wheel/tire setup.

Weight differences between 24 and 26 is also very close so it is also not worth going down in size for that either.

When it comes to wheels damage prevention, 24s will bend just as quick as a 26 inch wheel of the same model and finish with tires that have similar width to sidewall height proportions. Most bent/damaged wheels are due to blowouts, negligence of tire pressure and recklessness while driving (like not watching where you are going). Stock wheels are bent/damaged all the time, even more than aftermarket wheels (mainly because they are more common). Also, cheap/off-brand wheels will bend easier than wheels that have quality behind them.

The only reasonable reasons that I can see someone wanting to down size wheel size is due to big wheels just not being their taste, not having/willing to spend more money on replacement tires, not wanting to be ostentatious/flashy to regular people and/or thieves, or wanting to gain some performance loss due to the addition of big wheels. All that alignment and transmission stuff is negligible.

Now, 26s, 24s, 22s, and even 20s aren't meant for everyone. It comes down to the individual, so it's your choice. Just don't make that choice based off of damage prevention or ride quality myths because you will be pissed when you end up with bad riding 22s that some how end up bent in a few months.

I have 24s and actually prefer the ride more than my stock 17s. I have 305/35/24 tires and have hit a few decent size potholes and everythings been fine so far. Scratches are inevitable but just being cautious will help alot. Performance wise, i do notice a difference in acceleration mainly, but its up to you if thats ok. Keep'em IMO.

well i blew the trans up a few years ago, but that was a few months after i dropped in the 6.0, so i was expecting it..Ive had a few hubs go out, but i think it was from the way i had it lowered in the first place with just drop keys at a 3" drop..alignment hasnt been an issue at all
