Nope did not have to cut any metal pillars. There is a pretty decent size whole behind the plastic pillar that was big enough alomst fit the hole speaker i could of probably cut the metal and enlarged the diameter of the hole by an inch and get the speaker completly in but i was not to keen on doing that. Since the tweeter grill is so small that i felt it would muffle the sound and cause panel rattle. So i just used a dremel tool to cut the plastic and made sure that the cut was in the area of where that hole in the metal pillar is so the magnet part of the speaker would fit in there. Then I just mounted the speakers and screwed them directly into the plastic and put a retaining clasp behind it to work as a washer/bolt (picture below)

As far as drivers sound experience those are useless... now if you have people in the 3rd row alot then sure
Even for the rear passengers it does nothing positive. Just screws up the frequency response in the whole truck. Best thing you can do is disconnect the rears and put that budget into improving the fronts.

If you have the Bose system, those speakers aren't tweeters but, as a member named Sub explained to me, "twiddlers" which I take it are mids/tweeters. And the Bose speakers are part of a surround sound system and are all 2 ohm speakers which are twice as efficient as aftermarket which are 4 ohm. I believe anything you find to replace the Bose will be half as loud and will just mess up the system. I have the Bose (Y91) system and installed an aftermarket DD head unit and replaced the Bose sub with an MTX Thunderform enclosure with a JL 10" sub and Soundstream amp and it rocks. The Bose speakers themselves sound great and if one does blow, you can find replacements at a junk yard.
