I stroked mine back in 06 with a lunati rotating assembly. I had a local shop machine the block and I assembled it. I kept the topend stockall those years until now.

added built tranny, TCI SNS 1800-2000 stall, edelbrock etec 170cc heads, COMP roller rockers, COMP CAM 268xfi, upgraded fuel system to include wynjammer.com custom 46.7lbh spider injection upgrade and a PCM4less tune.

This saturday I'm heading to the dyno for a before and after and I'll post it asap.

All togather I spent:
Heads 1100
cam 280
rockers 320
Trq Conv 680
flywheel 600
Bottom end w/machining 2200
tranny build 1800
tune 400
gaskets/oil/sensors/ect. 400
total $ 7780 and man can I tow!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=uWSRCna3LkY click this to see the progress prior to supercharger. HP/TQ may seem low but the engine is setup for forced induction and makes it suffer all motor.

so after buying a 99.... replacing all steering components and installing a 6" lift I drove it home from my families shop only to blow a head gasket and find the intake manifold leaking as well (in 2 miles under 40 mph; I know not relevant) I started looking at options. Considering i have 139xxx miles on the rig i looked into replacing the engine as apposed to fixing the issues.

5.3l swap.... too much headache for my time frame and still end up with a junkyard dog with 100,000 miles on it.

stock replacement (NO GAIN) 1900 summit or jegs

HT383E 5000-5500 depending on where you shop

Consulted a local machine shop who has built a motor for my jeep many years ago said he could do a 383 to the Ht383e spec (parts and labor) for 1615 out the door.

So if you are mildly mechanically inclined you could pull your block and have it built and save a ton.

Also (for sake of post) I consulted a shop about R&R and they said 800 plus fluids

grand total doing it your self or with help of a shop.... 1800-3000ish

Shop your available machine shops and ask around word of mouth is a great indicator of quality
