I'm going to hijack this thread real quick. =)
I had a faulty actuator in my newly purchased '96 Tahoe, pre-1/96. Installed new actuator, and now the light stops blinking but there's a real loud noise like something is partially binding or only half engaging. Do I need to reset the lever inside the diff?
I changed out the old fluid to new, Lucas gear oil. I do have it running up on the lift so none of the wheels are on the ground.

Ok, answered my own question. The front wheels need to be moving (duh) to 100% engage. Drove it outside in the snow. Bitchin'.
