Hey guys,
seems this old transmission wants to fight me from trying to save it at every turn, lol. Finally getting around to installing my shift kit. Relatively straight forward process and everything has gone smoothly. One weird issue is that boost valve. I have gotten the spring clip off and the valve drops out about 3/4 of an inch or so and then stops. When I push and pull on it it makes a clanging sound like it's hitting something metal that is preventing it from coming out. Has a hard stop when I pull on it, and I would like to avoid damaging anything by yanking on it, or getting it galled into the bore.
I read on another forum somebody suggesting to put the pan back on with a couple of bolts and run it so the pump will blow the valve out. Seems like a poor idea but I'm not above redneckery.
