I have a 96 gmc yukon 4x4 the trans went out so I got one from advanced auto parts and had it installed at a shop I got it back and it drove fine for a while the the tcc would act up locking and unlocking it was low on fluid they didn't fill the tc enough I refilled it drove fine for a month or so afterwards now I'm having a problem when it heats up to operating temp the tc will mess up I will be driving 60mph and all of a sudden it seems like I lost a gear because the rpms jump. What could be the fix for this? Before it gets to bad.

typically whats happened with the symptoms your describing is the seal for the 3-4 apply piston wears out wich starts wearing out the the clutch material faster on 3rd and 4th gear
the same thing happened on my 02 tahoe when it was in 4th gear and youd start getting around 60 and 70 mph if you gave it more gas itd start to slip and the rpms would rev up
eventually it started to slip when in 3rd and shortly there after it whenever it shifted from 2nd to 3rd itd just rev up and only hold 2nd like 3rd gear disapeared

at minimum the tranny has to be torn down and the clutch packs have to be replaced along with the seal for the 3-4 apply piston you mite be able to buy some time and put a bunch of that lucas stuff in there

Well I don't know much about automatic transmission to rebuild one but would be willing to learn. I'm good with engines just have never had the chance to mess with a transmission other the pull out and put another in. Also another option would be any online trans companies that are good. I had a monster once but didn't keep it long enough to tell much but have heard nothing but good things from performa built and finish line transmissions anyone have any opinions on these? I would really like to learn how to rebuild one but this is my dd and I need it now not later

well if you wanna learn and yer vehicle cant be down for very long just get another stock 4l60e new, used or rebuilt depending on what you can afford and when you havein it replaced have them throw the old one in the back and take it home make clear an area in your garage or
then go on you tube theres quite a few extensive videos on rebuilding a 4l60e from tearing it down and putting it all back together so study up on those and when you get ready to theres quite a veriety of rebuild kits anywhere from just stock to performance street, drag towing and reliability you can either pull the old one out and put yer rebuilt in yerself id recomend having a buddy help

but keep in mind rebuilding any automatic transmission is pretty complicated so take yer time dont rush

There is but I don't want the same place doing the work again this is the 2nd issue I've had with them the first being using my yukon for personal use and busting a back glass out and not paying for it. Even left the junk they went and picked up laying in the back of it.

You didn't buy it from then so another shop should be able to still do the labor. Sounds like you need some work to it.
