have a properly equipped shop run a check for codes that will not illuminate the check engine light that may indicate a failed electronic part such as a solenoid.

im going to definitely have that done an otc genisys will definitely do that i was thinking sometimes it seems that the temp sensor is incorrect like its kicking OD in at to low of a temp so what if it thinks that its thinking that is hotter than it really is and is thinking the TC is overheating or something. is this a possibility?

That sounded like a question well more like you were saying what am I talking about but it's happened to me before I had a thermostat too low in one of my old truck which wasn't letting the coolant get hot enough for the computer so it wouldn't shift into OD this was on a 95 z71 with 4l60e changed to a hotter thermostat on it and boom ran perfect.

I think the manual I read says it has to be 122 degrees Fahrenheit to shift in OD that's for the engine coolant and trans fluid temp I don't remember what it is suppose to be

a skewed tranny temp sensor can cause delayed garage shifts and tcc problems. they do and can go into overdrive as low as 150° of tranny fluid temp if not lower as other conditions in the drivetrain system are met so it is not unusual for overdrive and lock up after you are driving a short bit. if the sensor senses issues or temps to high it will do something like cut out the lock-up function. use of cruise control also effects this in some way as well.

Well tonight I drove it until it got to the point where it does this problem. Was cruising about 55 and felt it unlock or lock whichever makes the rpms higher I get it confused. So I kept a steady speed and tried tapping the brake pedal and no change in rpm at all so it's completely going away at some point.

if no rpm change when tapping the brake then perhaps the brake switch may be faulty cussing issues with the tcc. it is a function of the brake switch to disengage it when brakes are depressed. it does happen.

Is there a way of testing the switch? Before the trans heats up while driving and od works fine I can hit the brake pedal and it will shift out of od. Also is there any way of checking the torque converter to see if it's clutches are slipping due to the installer not filling it up enough. And the valve body I know they apparently revised this issue in 99 believe will any 4l60e valve body fit?
