you can use the diagram below for reference. as for the torque convert as the engine runs the tranny pump will fill it up once it is installed. fluid is constantly pumped thru it as the engine runs turning the tranny pump. if not the converter could not operate properly and burn up. as for the tc clutch slipping if or any clutch for that matter the pcm uses sensor data to detect component slippage. it would trigger a p1870 code which because it meets other criteria would also trigger the light on the dash. there was a tsb on the tranny that dealt with that issue and maybe what you are referring to as well. there are repair kits that solve that as well as replacing some valve body kits if you prefer. if you want to get into gear to gear shift delay measurements you will need to get your hands on an advanced scanner and using it will give info on all the solenoid and switch activity in the tranny and from that info can help determine the issues. would you possibly describe the converter as having shuddering like issues?

When I first got it back from being installed it was like shuddering so I checked the fluid it was about a little over a quart low so I topped it off. And it was good to go for a couple of months. Then I got the 1870 code and it's been a disaster since. It now doesn't studder it just goes away. When the code trips I get the harsh 1-2 shift plus a harsh 2-3 shift which I only hear of a harsh 1-2. But if I let it sit for a while to cool off and I can go a while again and it shifts fine till it throws the code again. It kind of acts like it's getting to a hot temp and it cools off and goes away. It's got me lost. I just did a test on the tps and the signal changes nice and easy not jumping around I did it operating temp but with the engine off and it started off reading 28.8 so I figured that was because the engine was off.

as long as the key is in the on position the tranny and engine data is output is live and active engine running or not. was that temp is Celsius? what was the temp outside at the same time. regardless it sounds like you need the fix it kit for the code or you will slowly tear up the tranny.

The 28.8 was the closed throttle position reading on the tps just explaining where I had tested it to knock something else off the list. It was rainy and cooler today out it made it much further than usual with throwing the code. The rebuilt transmission has what honestly appears to be a sleeve in the valve body for the fix already. I have a tekpack fitzall laying in my garage I ordered just waiting to put in to be sure this is it and if it is already sleeved there's no way the tekpack is going to fit into the valvebody

28.8% tps when throttle is closed? something is wrong with that thing or it circuit and that kind of problem will effect the tranny so address that issue first. regardless I only trust transgo and transtar kits. not sure i have heard of of teckpak before. when rebuilt they should have used one of their shift-kit which fixes several issues including the p1870.
