If your vehicle is not lowered, consider a B&M deeper transmission pan, it will hold 3 1/2 Qts more than stock, all aluminum with cooling fins and drain plug. It will also come with a new longer tube to hold the transmission filter.

Rather than the pan I'd say spend that scratch on a trans cooler. The tru-cool 40k is thought of very highly and can be had for less than $200

I know that there are guys on performancetrucks.net that have done so with an intercooler.

If I may jump in and ask a related question, my Yukon is currently on my lift with the trans pan off. I am debating whether to do anything with the valve body while it is open. She's at 190k miles. The only minor complaint I have with the transmission is occasional slightly harsh shift from 2 to 3 at light throttle. Its not horrible, but I notice it. I'm tempted to put it back together with fresh fluid and filter to see if that changes anything.

Should I just replace the valve body, or do some rebuild or upgrades while I'm in there?

I have been kicking around a deep sump pan as well, but I tend to agree with the larger cooler route instead.

As for a drain plug, its not a priority for me. I prefer to stick a clean piece of 1/4" or 5/16" tubing down the dipstick hole and siphon fluid out. It is slow (really slow with cold fluid), but I can start the siphon when I get home from work and it will pull a gallon out by morning. This way, you don't even have to get under the vehicle to swap out a gallon of fluid.

Larger cooler route I concur.

(I just replaced a valve body on my 1999 4L60E.) And I believe GM corrected/updated the Valvebody problem they had after 2000+ models. (Heat might still be an issue though.)

I will say though, that I have been through a few different automatic transmissions on a few different GM vehicles. (Powerglide, TH350.) And IMHO GM straight up ****** up the 4L60E.
