I turned the ignition on, engine not running. Gear selector in neutral.
Then held the transfer case knob all the way to the right for about 12-15 seconds. And it went into neutral.

During our terrible ice storm, I was really relying on that knob. But I accidently somehow forced it into 4-lo and it wouldn't shift out of it for awhile. I had to drive on the highways going 10MPH while all the street lights, stop lights, house/building lights were off, while it was snowing badly.

Scary times. Word of advice, study the manual's section on this or your Hoe could get screwed over.

I think that could have been due to your locker was still locked when you tried to change it to 4-Hi. I had this happen to me once...I just put it in reverse, reversed a few feet, and it was back normal again.
