5.3 engine tick and oil consumption

I have a 5.3 afm with about 110k miles. Motor has a tick during initial cold start up. Sounds like lifters, also consumed about a qt of oil between oil changes(roughly 3500 miles between changes). Should I be worried. Thanks

I've heard two different responses to this. The ticking is normal and some say no. I just went through a bit less than a quart on my road trip with lots of hard driving. I'm gonna change oil and see what the use is with daily driving. Good luck.

Every single 5.3 that I have owned has had that tick, and about the same oil consumption. I have not had any issues caused by the consumption.

My 6.0 has a tick, and I use about a qt between oil changes. it has about 135k on it.
