Hey all,

My ‘16 Yukon XL SLT (5.3L) has a slow and methodical tick/click that occurs like clockwork approximately every second. Doesn’t seem to speed up or exist under increased RPM, but this car is so well sound-deadened that I can’t hear it from the cabin.

Dealer had it and said that it was a normal sound that emits from the emissions system/purge valve. I was OK with buying into that until my brother rented a Yukon SLT that didn’t make the noise. Really the only difference between the cars was the wheelbase length and mine is a California car; For those of you unfamiliar with California our emission standards are very strict and not call cars sold in other states are equipped with the certification required to be legalized in CA.

Anyway, anyone else experiencing this? If this is normal I’ll roll with it. I’m going back to the dealer on Monday to dig into it again and it would be nice to have some ideas loaded.

Best regards,

doesn't sound normal unless you have exceptional hearing, try another GM dealer chevy, Cadillac there all the same truck under the hood and any work can be done at any of them, I take my Yukon to Chevrolet, there is GMC dealer literally around the corner from them but there not as friendly.

Got the truck back and the sound was declared normal; Something to do with high pressure fuel pump or delivery or whatever. This GMC dealer has been pretty good, so I don’t particularly doubt their assessment.

Thanks for the advice.
