Just picked up an 04 Esky 6.0 AWD 159k runs and drives mint, what is a good oil and filter to use? On my OBS Tahoe I'd run an AC Delco filter and Castrol GTX high mileage oil, trying to stay away from switching to full synthetic due to the mileage

You are probably going to get a million different answers on this...
Everybody has a different opinion, but my recommendation for the filter would be an ac pf61 filter or any decent brand equivalent. (taller than oe pf46).
As for the oil, most high mileage blends are a synthetic blend, I'd run whatever the previous owner ran and be more worried about change intervals than the type. Anything but Pennzoil :2cents:

Thanks, the syn blend is fine just don't want a full syn and honestly I think the high mileage oil might do more harm then good in terms of how they prevent leaks by blowing the seals up

You will get tons of answers on this one. I have logged several hundred thousand miles on my 5.3 engines with Mobil1 5W30 High Mileage and AC Delco filters. You can get a great deal on it at Wal Mart.
