So is there a common issue that creates a belt squeal, like a power steering pump failing or a bad tensionor?

I'm getting a squeal around 3000rpms and I'm hoping its not coming from the water pump.

So far I've replaced the alternator since the bearings where making noise and threw on a what I believe is the new idler pulley (top passenger side pulley), the belt(s) are fine.

Yes, I had the same issue I replaced the idler pulley next to the alternator and also the belt tensioner pulley located bottom left by the water pump. Both can be found for cheap at your local auto parts store. It took 30 mins to change both out and zero squeals now.

I ended up replacing the idler pulley and still have the same squeal. I am chalking it up to the dealer claiming they did a check up on the car before sale and saying everything was checked although I just dumped half a bottle of power steering fluid in it. The Power steering pump probably is making the noise from the lack of fluid and done the damage. Will confirm on Monday after the dealer looks at it.

Tensioner, idler pulley, and alternator.

I replaced the alternator since I pulled the belt off the bearing was squeeking (while hand turning it), it was inevitable for failure.

Mine started that past year. I replaced the belt and tensioner which changed nothing. I replaced the steering fluid with Lucas steering fix and it quit....for a year now it's back. I got a delco pump to replace it I'll do in the next week or so. Delco remans say some stuff about things done to the shafts to reduce noise and the other remans don't say that so I went with delco. Cheap and fairly easy to replace with reservoir attached.

Total hose job by the useless dealership mechanic. he claimed the noise was coming from the alternator (which I already replaced ith a new one, then he cried about the serpentine belt having a little rub on it. wasted my time thinking they would own up to the power steering pump they lacked to put fluid in. After they put the new belt on it was still there of course. Never again am I buying anything from that dealership.

I will replace the power steering pump when I can get around to it, maybe I'll throw the lucas steering quiet in there for now

Any luck on that steering pump replacement? I'm having the same squeal noise and I'm starting to think its the steering pump since everything else seems ok and I replaced the belt. The steering pump makes a clicking noise when turning it by hand.

My 07 started making noise, turned out to be only when the A/C compressor was on. Bad tensioner for the A/C, replaced it and the noise went away. I layed under it while running with the A/C on and I could see the tensioner bouncing. I replaced the top one while I was at it since as mentioned above, they are relatively cheap.
