So I have had my ‘15 LTZ for about a month now, one thing that always bugged me was how hot the trans was. On my 2008, added the towing cooler and it never got above 165 degrees. On this newer one, it was always at 195-200. That’s hot, I did some research and found out about guys Turing the thermostat in the cooler line around, or taking it out and tapping and plugging the bypass hole.

I found this:

I installed it yesterday and now my trans temp is 165-170 in traffic and 153 going down the highway at 80mph

My trans has already been rebuilt and this temp drop should help it have a long life.

Just thought i’d share

Trans temp of 195 is nothing to be worried. The newer fluids (dexron 6) is designed to work up to 260. Over 230 I get concerned only that it means your working it hard.

How hard was the install? Looking at doing this on my truck.
