Has anyone swapped a 6l80e to a t56 trans. Ive done the 4l60e on the trucks and s10s to a t56 but never a 6.2 truck. Since we got the 2300 blower for the escalade id really like to put a t56 trans in it. I already put 3.73s in it and id do like 4.30s with the 6 speed. I have a 2006 ssr t56 at my house which is the upgraded unit from gm so im sure can handle the power

Any help is appreciated.

Funny you posted this up. I'm collecting parts for a T56 swap for my NBS Tahoe.

The SSR trans should handle the power with the larger mainshaft. Thats actually a rare trans. I would suggest a dual disk style clutch to handle the extra weight though, and a heavier flywheel too. I rebuild all styles of T56's on the side.

How tall are your tires? If they are over 32" I'd suggest a deeper gear, around a 5.13. Remember, the T56 has double overdrive. In 6th gear with a 32.3" tire at 70mph you will only be at around 2000 rpm with a 5.13 gear. :)

yah i know about the ssr one. I did my buddys s10 with a 101mm turbo 416 cubic inch set up did over 1000 at the wheels on pump gas. The trans is holding up fine.

see im doing the 2300 at 10psi and prob will do afr heads and a cam.
305 35 24s 4th gear with 3.73 at 6200 is 160 mph
4.56 is 131 mph
4.88 is 123 mph

If truck traps 110-112 mph would be 5600 rpms which is perfect power band range so ill prob do 4.88

They are very strong and way under rated. I've got a few high hp builds out there running mid nines at 140 ish mph. Got one on the bench right now going in a built 427ci C5 that should trap around 135-138 or so.

Do any of the NNBS style trucks come with manual transmissions? If so, that will make your swap easier, like pedals, master cylindef etc. Also, the tune might get tricky for the speedo etc...

When the time comes, message me and I'll get you the pin outs. If you are really trying to keep a stock running vehicle, you could do a computer swap to a stick and run like a Camaro operating system or something, but that would be super involved.

I'm running stock 6l80 tranny yet...
Ordered a new tranny so far, but stock one is still alive
I do you think you need to swap to T56?

Would not suggest a T56 swap in an Escalade. The auto will add torque which you want for that big truck.

I doubt he is going to lack any torque with a blower.... combined with a proper rear gear Im sure it will do just fine.

If you are gearing for quarter mile, then gear it so your crossing the traps at peak hp. If you are doing a cam it will probably peak above 6000 rpm. Sounds like a fun truck!!

Have you tried the online calculator at Randys Ring and Pinion? Works pretty good.
