i can probably fab something up to cover it...maybe some plexiglass. make some kind of mold, put it in the oven so that it melts and bends to make some rounded edges and then spray paint the inside so that it looks nice and glossy on the outside.

blizz - worst case, you can use the grilles that come with your 6x9's and just not use the OEM grilles at all.

exactly...i'd even try to find close to the same color as the headliner and spray paint em..if they stick out a tiny bit, it's ok..i'll come up with something but they "should" work out just fine.

blizz, sorry to dig up an old thread but how did those brackets end up working? Looking to do the same on my 94' suburban.

Should those speakers be powered just off of the speaker outputs on the radio harness? The holes are empty on mine with just speaker wires hanging up there but don't want to waste the money on them if they are receiving a signal. haha

WOW... glad I seen this cause tomorrow I replacing all the speakers in my 99 Yukon. I have 4 Polk Audio db 651s 6-1/2" Slim 2-ways coming along with 2 Kenwood KFC-415C 4"x10" 2-way speakers. Guess I can send the 4 x 10's back and pick up some 6 x 9's.

Anyone got any suggestions as far as 6 x 9's?
