I have a 2005 GMC Yukon Dinali XL 6.0 L all wheel drive The problem I’m having is I had an oil leak it was coming out of the oil pressure switch replaced it with a GM pressure oil switch Then the gauge went from reading 80 psi to normal operating range at idle 40 I shut the truck off the other day ,pinned back out at 80 . There was a lot of oil on the pigtail for the sensor. Is it the sensor the pigtail with a cluster that could be bad? Has anybody experienced this problem? Thanks

oil pressure sensors are sadly known to be bad new in the box. if its leaking out the top where the plug is, its for sure bad.

id pop another one in there. brand names dont seem to matter either, cheap hi end, they all fail. you maybe able to get it replaced for free being it was just changed not to long ago.

Welcome to the forum from Oregon..

We recommend that you put all your rig(s) info in your signature so we all don’t have to guess at year, make, model, engine size, trans, rear axle locker…….etc. While you may have posted pertinent info in your first post, you may forget to do it again and the info is needed by us anyway. Makes it way easier on all members that attempt to help, to have that info right up front. It is also recommended that you take a pic of your RPO codes, on the inside cover of the glove box, and post that image in your signature. All this info will greatly help those that will try to help with a problem.

If there is any other info, like upgrades, mods or recent mechanical/maintenance work done, that would be helpful in any post as well. Too many times a question is asked by the poster and after about 10 responses we find out that the poster has done recent work to attempt to fix the problem or work that was done that SEEMS not related to the problem.

In my 2001 yukon the instrument cluster has unreliable gages and can give false info...positive or negative false.

So I intalled an aftermarket oil gage and wired it thru the firewall and its reliable. I have both gages operating but if the factory fails or shows low then my aftermarket will help determine what's going on.

How and where is that gauge mounted? Have a pic? I was thinking of doing the same thing.

New gage gets power from the fuse box and pressure from a T fitting in the same port as stock gage.

Braided hose in the pic comes from back of motor at stock sensor location and I just looped it around and mounted new sensor to it.

Ground attached to the cowl screw.

Its powered only when truck running.

Works good.

Wire ran thru a hole I drilled into firewall. Easy install after I spent hours learning what to do.
