Thought I'd share some pics from the last week. More block prep and I got around to priming and painting. Nothing super special but something to enjoy.

Cleaning the block. Started with this. Nasty yellow block and rusty heads:

Halfway clean:

Taped and Primed:

Finally coated in gloss black engine enamel:

Thanks 07burb.

In case anyone is wondering why I didn't spend much time on the timing chain cover or with that oil pan, new versions of each are sitting in boxes waiting for final assembly.

UPDATES! Ok, just kidding. No! Really, I have updates, haha. I'm working on assembling everything. We did ARP head bolts and new ARP fasteners for everything that bolts onto the block. I didn't get a shot of the new Moroso pan because it's not installed yet, but that should be sometime next week. I did get the brackets and pullies back from powdercoat and they look pretty good. Not too sure about the intake though. We weren't shooting to have it look primered, but we'll run it for a little while and see if we want to change to a darker gray later. The water pump I just shot with clear so it wouldn't be porous and would be easier to wipe off. On to pics.

New timing chain cover and allen head bolts:

Powdercoated IM w/ new 12 point stainless ARP bolts:

A/C compressor and idler pulley attached to bracket and bracket attached to motor with new water pump:

Not sure who's following this or even interested, but a few more updates are coming. We got a 4x4 Suburban that we're going to swap the motor into. The frame has been gusseted in a few places and pretty much freshened up. We're trying to decide whether to use the red body or use the body that came on the "new" truck. After all the goodies we got, we found the new pan, timing cover and a few other bits didn't fit so we've been chasing down that problem so we can get the motor sealed up. We ended up with a new stock pan and went with a different aluminum timing cover for the motor. I've been working on cleaning up the under hood wiring the last few days and it's def looking better. I'm uploading a crapload of pics tonight so hopefully I'll have some stuff to share later this week.

Took a lot of pics, mostly of disassembly and wiring. I did get the firewall touched up today and some parts of the frame too. On to the pics.

New and old:

Initial mess of wires:

Dash cover and cluster had to go while chasing phantom wires through firewall:

Underhood wiring pared down to basics:

Not much happened the past couple days, just hit the blower box w/ some undercoating and did the same with the brake booster. It looks better I think.
