You can put the push button transfer cases in neutral as well. I had to on my 99 when my sunshell erupted and locked up the tranny. I believe you just put the tranny in neutral, apply brake, and hold down 2hi and 4lo buttons for five seconds. I guess all the obs trucks are towable!

Only e-shifters that are np8 nv246 tcase starting in '98 can do that. The '96-'97 np1 nv243 can not. It sucks but '96-'97 lost the neutral option.

I was going to say: "Read the owners manual!" that kind of stuff is in there for this purpose. But then the encyclopedia chimed in and everything is good.

oh and when it does you have an open invite to send me all the components you replace. i am working on a design modification for the np1 nv243 system. I want to convert it to the np8 nv246 auto4wd autotrac system. I could use all the parts i can get donated to keep costs low.
