i got a 95 tahoe 2dr 4x4(not z71) that i wanna get some performance parts for, any help?

First off, do some research, but you are limited electronically to what you can do to that engine, it really suffers from the airflow dept, and to truly get some horespower out of it, you will need to dump some serious cash into it like a Hi flow holley TBI, edelbrock TBI intake, cam, heads etc. For now get a better flowing intake, exhaust, and some gears to help in the acceleration dept, especially if youplan on going with bigger tires. You can also do a tune, but you cannot use Black bear performance as that is for the 96 OBDII and newer trucks.

Electric fans, long tube headers, HF cats, CAI, 454 tbi, intake manifold bored out to 2inches, gears, umm idk..

You can do a lot with the TBI. But yeah, first thing would be the exhaust, from the manifolds back. Engine work you can do Vortec heads and intake but you will need to get rid of the EGR. Can also do a LT1 cam or any other cam depending on what your goals are. As for a tune go with Ed Wright at fastchips.com, I have their basic chip and love it.

Just depends how much money and work you want to put into it.

I was in the same boat With my 95, Loved the looks, hated the performance.

You can make it run, but it will take some money. Heads, cam, intake, exhaust, larger TBI, Tuning is going to be pricey.

If you want to keep it and want it to run, i would uank the TBI and put a gen III vortec i. A 6.0 would work nice, or even a 5.3.

Just installing one of these engines will net you over 100 extra Horse. The money you would spend to get 100 Horse on the TBI motor would not be worth it IMO.

Either just be happy the way it is, tune it up good and put a nice exhaust on it, or yank it and put a better performing engine in it.

Just my 2 cents.

Bout 3 weeks ago.

I was craving a gen III motor to play with, so i traded it for a 2000 Z71 ecsb. Nice truck, no rust and tan leather.

I have a soft spot for NBS chevy trucks.

Still have my 05 Tahoe Z71 so i guess im still welcome ?? LOL!!!!!

i guess i have the same question as the author of this thread.... my question was whats available for performance upgrades as far as a decent set of heads, intake, and cam. and can these trucks be tuned with HP Tuners like the NBS trucks/SUV's?? I have an 08 Sierra that ive got full bolt ons and stall. I know i wont get my 98 Yukon to be as fast, but i just want a good performing daily driver out of this yukon. Any suggestions for that?

Frank, I'd look into a black bear tune. I don't have one yet but everyone on here who has one swears by it. Good bang for the buck too.
