I wonder when the switch over was ... maybe the ones built later have the 3 wire or something like that.

Ok, heres some pics of 1 of my 02's...the easiest one to access.
Its the pre cat on drivers side...plain as day.
heres the connector from the harness

heres the connector from the sensor ( 1 wire )

heres how it sits in the engine.

any ideas?
clearly they are 1 wire & clearly its a '96!
still not sure what t do.

BTW. the pass. side pre cat 02 looks different & the connector is still 1 wire, but cant figure out how to un connect the connector. its directly attached to the 02 form the harness...IE: not a wire from end of 02 to another wire into the harness. almost like a spark plug.
Its also way lower on the manifold then the drivers side...

Sorry but clearly you seem to be in the plain as wrong area.:imo:

The oxygen sensors are mounted on the exhaust pipes downstream of the manifolds before and after the catalytic converters. Not between manifold ports or on the manifolds themselves on the vehicles.

In that last picture make sure that wire doesn't lay on that manifold.
