does anybody know if there is a common electrical problem with the chevys around the 96 models? I have a 96 Tahoe, and in the past year I have had to put 3 batteries in it and possibly a 4th one in the morning.(luckily they have all been under warranty!) I have tested the alternator before I put the 3rd one in and it tested good. I went to leave work tonight and it was like it was dead again, but my lights are bright. It has a new starter, the cables are in good shape also. Any ideas?

unknown at this time.
if the battery is getting drained quickly you have to isolate the circuit doing it. how is the battery dead if your lights are bright? how quickly are they drained. when you try to start what happens exactly? dos the dash stay on and active while starter fails to get the engine going? yours is no common issue you seem to have a fault that we need to find a solution for. run some ohm tests on your power cables as well with the battery disconnected as well.

Here's one thing you can check. My truck was killing the battery I couldn't keep it charged for anything. One day it started popping the fuse for the starting circuit. Finally I decided to get off my lazy duff and get underneath and start checking wiring. Low and behold the solenoid trigger wire was rubbing on the exhaust manifold and actually welded itself right to the manifold. It was a very small spot so until it started popping fuses it would just drain the battery.
