96 Tahoe Stalling Need Advise??

LMC and RockAuto sell replcement fuel tanks. I don't know the configuration of your vehicle but they range from $200 up. I just checked Oreilly and they have them as well, but are only listing for 2-door trucks.

i already checked autozone, advance auto, rock auto. they only sell them for the 2-door and i have a 4-door

LMC shows two different ones, one for years 95-97 and one for years 98-99?
of course LMC doesn't have the actual tank for a 95-97 only the 98-99.

Now what is the difference in them?? Are they interchangeable???

Your tank should be gm# 12380267 for a '96

It's possible, but usually when a fuel pump goes, it doesn't work again for a few minutes, and it doesn't cause misfires. You just lose power for a few seconds and then die. Definitely check to see if you hear it priming when you turn the key on.

Yeah when they go out they usually die hard. Mine did some strange things like running half assed , maybe 20 psi which caused it to buck, misfire and even backfire, then it died for good.

Maybe you can find a fuel tank used from a place like AZ, NV, etc where there is no rust.

my mechanic is picking up a used on for $50 so not too bad. and alot of places will not ship a used gas tank, a guy i know that cuts up turbo buicks told me that all of the shipping places wont take a gas tank if they think it has been used or looks new if it had gas in it, even if you cant smell it or tell its been there
