Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have a 97 fire engine red tahoe that I bought used. I've done a fair amount of work on it and hate when things break and like to fix them.

My drivers side power window has come out of the side guides at least twice. I reinstalled the window and the last time I broke a roller off the regulator. I bought a new regulator and motor and just put it all back together a few weeks ago. The window came of the guide pieces again. I removed the front guide closest to the hinge and the bottom bracket looked bent. I straightened that and reinstalled the window.

I thought everything was fine until the roller on the regulator that goes in the channel on the metal door came out of the end of the channel.

It looks as if the window is going to low in the door. is their an adjustment for that or a stop I'm not seeing anything.

I noticed with the old regulator that this roller would come half way out of the channel with the window down.

My initial trouble with the window started when the metal strip that is attached to the bottom of the window came off. I cleaned that up and reattached making sure it went in the same spot.

Once I figure this out it's back to regular maint. like replacing the light bulbs for the power window switches etc.

Thanks, I love my tahoe and my son loves it more than me so you know who drives it. I installed new injectors in it and she really runs well. I would recommend that to anyone. she has a nice exhaust and one size up tires.

Thank You
Mike

Hang in there Mike. It's been slow over the holiday weekend.
Sometimes it's difficult diagnosing a problem here without seeing the actual problem.

I'd like to help but I have only replaced one window regulator/motor. It was such a long time ago I cant remember what it looks lie in there. I'd hate to steer you in the wrong direction.

Thanks, I'm pretty persistant and will eventually figure this out.

I bought this one and never trust the person selling a used vehicle. Don't be distracted and take someone with you. I was told the thing had no problems.

to date I have replaced
1. fuel Injectors- check engine light came on after 20 miles of driving and engine had a terrible miss. I replaced the injectors not a bad job but it takes some time. shes purrs like a kitten now.
2. both front door jamb switches
3. steering speed sensor
4. Repaired broken seat frame. This I broke myself leaning back on the front seat.

things not fixed yet- Trying to figure out where all of the water is coming from inside. The headliner above the visors gets soaked when it rains. Looks like the front top corner of the windshield is leaking. My 95 tahoe did not have these issues she just rusted so bad I could not drive it anymore.

Power window rollers come out of track, window goes down too far for some reason.

Thanks
Mike

Sounds like the windshield was replaced and didn't get seated properly. I had the same problem. I waited until it got hot out (Savannah in August) so it would dry out then filled in between the body and windshield with black silicone from the marine supply.
Problem solved.
