97 Tahoe Engine Wiring Harness

Hi, Just replaced head gaskets on 97 Tahoe 5.7. I labeled all wiring but one tag fell off and I can't for the life of me find out where it goes. Thought someone could help. It is in the same bundle as the crankshaft sensor but longer. It is a red and blue 2 wire plug. It seems to want to wrap around under engine to driver side but not sure. Anyone? Thanks,

The alternator is hooked up. Now that I look at it again the plug is more orange than red. The wires are wht / blk. There is a clip dead center on bottom of engine that appears to hold this wire so I am pretty sure it goes to driver side.

You sure that does not belong on air condition compressor? That looks like a grey wire with black stripe. can you confirm the wire colors and I will trace it that way quicker with location pic as well maybe.

Its 2 wires. A Black one and a white one. They are just real dirty. All three plugs are already connected to ac. There is no way it could reach more than a foot from where you see it in pic because it is bundled in the harness with the crankshaft sensor which is plugged in behind where you see the wire in pic. I took pictures of the motor before I tore it apart and I see the wire bundle going down to the crankshaft sensor and I don't see those wires coming back up. I guess I might have to take skid plates off tomorrow so I can see better. Its got to go somewhere. I don't remember having any trouble disconnecting any wires though but its been a couple of months since I tore it down. Been too hot down here to mess with it.

How about the black is actually brown and it goes to the pressure control valve on back of PS pump? I f not Let me know I am still looking at components that may have a black and white wire.

Engine coolant sensor for computer is black and yellow on thermostat housing. I mention these in case the wires are discolored from age.

We shall over come this.:hands:

Wow...That is probably right. That is exactly where it reaches to. I didn't know Power Steering had wires. Thanks so much. Will look first thing tomorrow but I am sure that is it. Will let you know the outcome. Rick

The bad part is that I was hoping that plug had something to do with it not cranking but I think I have the valves too tight. Every time I tightened them and turned the motor 360 degrees They would be loose again so I would tighten them another half turn and would turn it 360 and they were loose again. It took 3 times for them to stay tight. It sounds like its bad out of time when I try to crank it but I have checked distributor twice.

Jonathan, I finally found out why I couldn't figure out where the wires went. I looked and looked all over that PS pump today and finally pulled the pump off the truck. Still couldn't find it. Then I turned it upside down which was hard to do with the hoses still attached and I saw a small piece of an electrical coil exposed. The plastic part that the plug connects to is broke off and missing. Don't know if I did it or its been that way. Anyways thanks for the info....I would be looking for the next year without that diagram you sent. Rick
