Goooood evening everyone, spamming the forum with my 98 Yukon yet again. I have finally taken out my Oil pressure sending unit, took it out, and it looks like that. When I put my hand around the unit, I felt wet Oil. Just removing the unit, I feel oil. But there's no oil around the actual unit, and the connector looks clean...Is there some kind of voodoo magic I'm missing? Can it leak from the threads and just stream down the block, without hitting the unit? Real hard to see back there. Asking for a second opinion, I'm not familiar with these at all. Thanks!

Update: Finally able to take a picture of what it's like back there with a phone and inverting the camera. It looks like whatever bracket that the sending unit screws into is leaking, not the unit itself...Was not aware this could happen. I don't even know what that part's called. Any help is appreciated!

Another update, it looks like this is an extension for the sending unit. Now, I can't find it as a part anywhere, in any parts explosion at all, or diagram. It looks like this thing would unthread out, is it possible this part needs to be resealed somehow? Not going to touch it until I get some more info on this darn thing.

This thread has been edited a bunch of times because I originally thought my sending unit was leaking, It's what the unit screws into. This extension?

although now I'm taking another look, you might be onto something actually. I'm guessing there's no easy way to test if it is that gasket?
Clean it really well with some isypropl and clean rags. Get it nice and dry. You may see it leaking from the rear wall. Unfortunately, really only option is to remove the intake, do the seals, and then lay down the Sealant along the front and rear walls. It’s a Good weekend project. Lol

That’s what I figured unfortunately. Will clean tonight! This truck has to be working three weeks from now, should be long enough for someone who has free time. Will be making another post purely on this process. Thank you sir!

If you look closely, it appears the "teflon tape" unwound on the adapter fitting when installed. Clean area well with spray, remove fitting, clean threads add tape and re-install.
More pics of intake rear sealant would be helpful.

if your local auto parts store has any they will have a high heat thread sealant paste meant for oil that will work better than teflon tape. also i have just put a heavy coating of orange rtv on threads before installing with great success. stupid dodge drilling manifold bolts right into water jackets.

I think that “Teflon” is actually RTV. When I put my hand on it it goes to the block unfortunately…Resealing this thing can’t hurt anyway. I’ll take more pics today!

What about installing the oil sending unit back into the fitting? Same procedure I’m guessing?
