99 nbs pu 4l60e in my 96 tahoe???

Long story short is my stepson broke the trans in the 96 2 door,I found a 99 (nbs p.u.)4l60e w/tcase both rebuilt 2500 miles ago.

Can I make this work?What is different ?

I believe that between them there were improvement but the electric connections were the same. Bell housing may be different. but should still bolt up. If the '99 had auto 4wd you are going to have issues putting it into a '96. I would be concerned about the TQ. I believe it was increased in size over time.

After much research(asking on several forums)It seems the 99+ from nbs(ls engines) has a different input shaft length and T C bolt pattern.

Could be made to work,but would require a new input shaft and Converter.
