Well I finally got the drop on my Tahoe, BUT with the flip in the back my driveshaft is rubbing in 2 spots and I've even cut into the crossmembers.

If I do a 1.5" lift shackles will that solve my problem?

I'm going to run 24s so I was eventually going to have to come up a bit anyways.

Also, what's the best way to properly set the pinion angle right again?

The only issue is the rubbing, or vibrations also? If you have vibrations you have to correct the pinion angles by putting angled shims on the leaf spring pads.

Not sure about the rubbing I don't know too much about 5-6" drops. I will say if the driveshaft is hitting you either has to raise the truck back up or cut out what is rubbing. You might bend the driveshaft if you don't.

Shackles will affect the pinion angle. If it isn't vibrating now, it will if you put shackles on it.

When you put your flip in you are supposed clearance a few spots so it does not hit when your suspension cycles.
Did you do that?
The crossmember above the rear needs to be clearanced and the crossmember in the center of the body needs to be cut.

These are some pics I took when I did my drop.

James, do you have a 4 door or 2door? 992dr obviously has a 2 door and the crossmembers arnt the same as the 4 door.

I just put a flip kit on my tahoe, im rubbing the center crossmember but youll have to adjust your pinion angle. Or make sure its right.

This was a picture with lowering shackles in the back with the flipkit, which was way to low in the ass, so this weekend i just put in some lift shackles and now all 4 corners are dead nuts even and looks way better.

I figured out the issue....
I notched the X members and solved most of it then added a 1.5" lift shackle and it never rubs now. Pinion angle still isn't perfect but it is close now after using 4 degrees of shims on each side. Unfortunately the Tahoe is going in the opposite direction here soon. But if anyone has any questions on how to stop the rub they are welcome to contact me. I worked on mine for a good 4 days to get all of the rub gone. The ride isn't too bad but I'm running drop shocks on all 4 corners. For some reason mine was tucking near 2.5" of tire with my flip and no lift shackle and is still tucking about 3/4" now.

Truck looks good Adam!

have a picture of yours? and thanks!

also if its a DJM flip kit, those kits dont need pinion angles since you can loosen the bolts and swing the pinion angle any way you want, tighten the bolts back down and its locked in place..

What flip kit do you have?

Glad you got it all figured out.
