What is a normal range for the low and high sides at idle with these trucks?

And what is the real impact if you dont vaccum before you recharge? Is it something you can really notice? Or a long term thing with moisture which leads to rust?

How about a change in cab length and cab volume. Here is your pressure chart.

So that means if say it was 80 degrees with 70% humidity low side should be about 40lbs and high side about 260 with center vent temp around 60 degrees. Did I decifer that correctly?

What do you mean , not vacuumed down before recharging? You are killing me.....if the system is open to atmosphere for even 5 minutes, you must vac it down.

You also bleed the gauge lines with freon too before you add....to get the air out.

Air is enemy.

I hear ya, the first shop (who knew crap about a/c's) always vaccumed but when I started dealing with the second shop he vacumed once cause I told him to. Not one of the probably 35 cars he serviced did he vaccum. Is there really a negative effect? Over the years my buddy's always serviced there own a/c's in there back yards. Heck even my race cars years ago there was a summer we removed and replaced the compressor/condenser about 5 times for weight savings and again we never vacumed. Please dont get me wrong im not arguing that you dont have to just trying to justify why I didnt. I really dont know....

The math is about right. when I recharge I evacuate the system bleed the vacuum with freon until reaching 0 psi pressure and then add by weight and fine tune with temperature differential if needed.

If you do not vacuum moisture remains in the system and that kill an a/c system. Sometimes performance, sometimes literally.

I ordered the variable orifice so it should be here in a few days. Once it arrives I will have someone evacuate, install , vaccum and recharge.

Did you see "ES-12a" on ebay? Supposed to replace R134, cheaper and cools better? IDK seen something similiar a few weeks ago now on ebay.....

Would not touch it. es website shows it costs more add on an haz-mat charge and you would pay to have your system flushed out maybe change seals too. I would stick with the original design.
