A new interior sound ( actuator?)

Ok.... My '05 Yukon XL.... I am aware of one of my front A/C vent actuators making a gear-slipping sound. But it manages to work ok for the moment.
Now, at the lower dash, just on the passenger side of the console, I am getting what sounds like a CD changer trying to switch CDs. It happens at start-up, then it soon after stops.

Is this another vent actuator, making a different sound than a gear slipping?? ( Vents are all cool fortunately!! )

I know for a fact it's not the muffler bearings!!

That actuator is for the driver's temperature control. It's doing a self-calibration at start up and if you stay in Auto at about the same temp it doesn't move much but nothing lasts forever. All but one of mine have thrown codes at one time or another. I've replaced the worst offender and have to do two more but boy it's hot out and I know you know how that is!

Yep another actuator. Once you’ve replaced the one that’s about impossible ( recirc I believe) the rest are gravy. I believe there’s 4 altogether correct , James ?

Yes its another actuator. The one on top of dash is temp, the one on bottom is temp. Left side is mode and right side is recirculation. Both temps and recirc. are same part number, mode is the different one.

You mean the one on top is recirc? Or air inlet as GM sometimes calls it. I remember that one because I replaced mine and the manual calls for removal of the dash sub assembly which is a lot of work. I was able to work around it by loosening it and wedging it up. Here’s a diagram.

This diagram is backwards and only has single temp zone, not dual. #10 is mode, right side of diagram which would be left side in vehicle. Temp is 16 on bottom and recirculation ( air inlet) is #30 on right side (left side in diagram). Hard to see in diagram but if you look closely it actually comes in from the side not the top. Im not positive but i do believe on dual temp zone systems, drivers temp is on bottom and passenger temp is on top.

He never said he has dual temp. That diagram is for a 2002 Yukon Denali which should be close to his 05. On my 02, the recirc is on top and it’s almost impossible to get to.
