So even the Airaid MIT tube results in more power, not much, but a few HP. My point stands - the stock tube results in NO gain performance wise over something less complicated and less ugly. If something like the stock tube gained even a few hp over a plain tube, you can be sure that something like that would have been included with my supercharger instead of a smooth flowering simple tube that connects to the stock air box with a high flow (not cone) filter. As far as claiming that a full CAI will provide a “few” extra HP due to the filter itself, the test I linked shows over 25 hp with the AFE intake which has a large filter similar to stock. That’s not a few, that’s a lot. Show me the proof - not just an opinion- that that stock tube improves performance over a simple free flowing design. I do not buy it.
Edit: @drakon543 i don’t see anything heated about this discussion, it’s just a few people with different opinions talking. Nobody is trying to be an ******* like you see on other forums. It’s all good.

I like your attitude. Really we're just splitting hairs here. From what I can tell either way you look at it the difference is so little you can't tell without dyno tests anyway let's just agree to disagree

First, an NHRA dragster has a completely different engine often supercharged and 4000 hp....running on Nitro....air box would not allow that and choke the engine. We have 300 hp - at the rear wheels...

The airflow has pulses even in the airtube. Its all connected.

The extra resonator tubes are primarily for sound.

My point was if a resonator box increased performance then you would see it being used in NHRA, these are all internal combustion engines looking to put air and fuel in a cylinder, give it a little squish then lighting it off.

I sometimes worry, if that tube going down is a sump in-case you suck in a little water? Also, yes the stock intake is HIGHLY optimized... for what exactly? It might not be horse power at top of priority. Could also be sound... I mortified my 94 Z28 camaro intake and eventually bought a CAI for it years ago. I'm not sure I felt any power gains (although I eventually bought a cam and other things for it)... But I definitely noticed a difference in engine noise under the hood. And some noises were really kind of nasty.

Given the trans tune and throttle response my truck has it is obvious that GM had performance at the top of the design priority. It only follows they would do the same with the intake and exhaust components.
