If the tint is dark enough yes it is dangerous but I have had no darker than 35% on my front windows and it has never been an issue. With a exemption in California what is legal on the front windows?

Oh I know that Blizzard it just seems crazy that you can get a ticket for tint depending on the time of day since its not something you just remove at night.

Blizzard is right. EVERY state is different! In TN, cars are different than trucks and SUVs. Cars can only have 35% all the way around. Trucks and SUVs can only have 35% on the front windows but the back glass and any other windows behind the front two can be as dark as you want. Yes, that is what the law states!

I have 5% over factory on my back windows and 20% on the front. I have had cops tell me my back windows are too dark, but they have never mentioned the front. You can still see through the fronts so they assume they are legal. Of course I told them the back windows were legal! Thats the only time a cop has said, "Yeah, I think you are right about that." HAHA.

Its funny though because most of the police here aren't even sure of what the law states exactly.

I tinted my windshield with 3M Crystalline 70% (can't tell it's there)... I don't honestly care if it's not legal. My eyeballs and skin are more important to me. I'll just replace it if I have to pull it. I'm sure if you stick around on this board you'll probably see that happen to me sooner than later :)

My tint guy also has 70% on his windshield and it is the same way. You can't tell it's there. It's basically a UV coating. I'm really considering having it put on mine as well. I'm going to have seat covers made soon and I want them to hold up better so as much protection from the sun I can get is a must!

I live in AZ where the sun is ultra bright all the time, even bright when it rains half the time. So I've been looking to get my windshield done somewhere around 40% or so. Then put a nice 5% strip at the top to offset the full tint, maybe they won't notice it as easily. Then I'm thinking another 20% over factory on the back windows will be perfect

Texas is different too.

25% front driver/passenger windows
25% front strip on windshield
As dark as you want all the way around back from the front driver and passenger windows.
