I spied the light on this morning. I drove to work and before I left, I shut it off and restarted it, and the light didnt come on agian. When I left work, It came back on agian. :(

What are the most common causes?
What can I do to narrow down the reason the light is on?

The Hoe stops fine.

Thanks for the help.

E.

usually comes on for a bad speed sensor, go to advance auto have them pull the code-usually for free and find out which sensor has stopped reading....

abs system works by imputing speed from individual wheels to tell the computer which wheel if skidding or not braking enough and then the computer varies brake pressure to individual wheels (pulsation can be felt in pedal) to keep from locking up the brake and skiding out of control.

Where are the sensors for the rear wheels? There are no sensors on the wheels themselves.... Or am I really missing something?

It uses the speed sensor in the transfercase(4x4) or in the transmission(4x2) for the rear speed signal because of the straight axle. Only some of the newer trucks have them on all 4 wheels. If you lose this signal the ABS light would be on along with the loss of the speedometer.

only if the rear speed sensor goes out- Your problem more than likely is one of the front speed sensors.
