Got the new clock spring installed but it was not my problem. My old clock spring was just fine. Here are the details.....

My original clock spring was mis-aligned. If you read my previous post, i was spinning the wheel while I had the shaft disconnected to lube it as it comes out of the firewall. When i re-connected the shaft, i THOUGHT i had it where it needed to be, and though the steering wheel was centered, the clock spring was not. The clock spring has a clear window at about the 5 o'clock position, and when it is centered it will display a little yellow circle. When the circle is displayed, that means its centered, it does not mean thats where it needs to be when it is mounted in your vehicle.

To trouble shoot this, you need to start your vehicle and turn your wheel in a direction until you get the stabilitrak light. From there, you need to rotate the clock spring one revolution in the opposite direction and then re-test. So for example if you spun your steering wheel to the right and got the warning, you need to pull the wheel back off or disconnect the shaft, and spin the steering wheel or clock springs one revolution to the left. This should fix your issue and you will no longer have the yellow circle in the clear window. This fixed my issue and just wanted to share for those who are still scratching their heads. If you do not do this, you can take to the dealer and they can use the tech2 to re-program the steering wheel position and what not, but as you know it will cost.

Now i have an extra clock springs in case anyone is looking for one.

Glad you got this resolved.

Thank you for sharing the final resolution so others can find it and benefit from it.

Edit: Where did you come across this information?

After i installed the new clock spring and still had the same issue, i once again called upon google and ran across the camaro forum where the guys with lower trims like to switch to the SS steering wheel. Well one of them had the same issue, pulled the steering wheel off and moved the clock spring and didnt put it back to where it was. He did the same troubleshooting i posted and it fixed his issue and worked for me as well.

ok so the hits keep on coming. So I installed a new abs control module and truck drove great. minus the abs and traction control lights that were on because it needed programmed and haven't done it yet. well Friday on the way to work driving in this Tahitian war storm of rain we had, I hit a puddle getting off freeway that literally almost stopped my truck. I had let off the gas because I saw the water but it was deep enough to slow my truck. I left work Friday and everything was great and picked up the wife and headed home and that is where fun began. The cruise control kicked out on me and I saw speedo jump. so I hit the gas and got over into right lane where I noticed my gauges bouncing again. I hit the gas and engine revved but no pickup whatsoever. so I pulled over and tried to run scan and after trying a bit I noticed smoke roll past my drivers window. I had wife get out and I shut truck off and noticed smoke was coming from above the spare tire. It finally quit but still haven't figured out what it is yet. I am hoping it is just a smoked suspension control module as I don't use the air anymore and have converted to regular load sensing shocks. anyone know of anything else it could be?
