I saw that you mentioned that but like you said, you are not sure if they had to flash it.

The one I have does show the outside temp right in the middle of the unit. Its within a degree or so of the temp display on my rearview mirror. I dont know if they use the same sensor to read the outside temp but I'm going to find all this out tomorrow at the dealer.

I've never noticed that on mine. So it shows the driver temp, outside temp, and passenger temp on the screen at the same time?

Let me try and understand this thread because the info is too scattered.
1. Your Tahoe A/C flow is interrupted when on for more than 45 minutes.
2. You then replaced your switch due to peeling with a new one that reads "Rear" where the original control read "AUX".
3. Your flow issue is fixed but now your compressor does not cycle on/off.
4. You switch back to the original controls and now it cycles correctly but does not flow properly.
Is that right?

What I gather is happening with his truck :

Since he changed out the control head due to button peeling issues the evaporator freezes up and restricts airflow because the compressor never cycles off. When he put the old control head back in the compressor cycles like normal so it never freezes up. So he is trying to see if the Bcm needs to be reflashed so the new control head will work.

Fire730 is correct. I had several issues with my ac but the main problem is exactly what he described. I'm going to take the new unit into the dealer today to see if they can flash it and make it work corectly.

I did speak with a parts guy and he did confirm that the new unit works on 07tahoes but he said you cannot just throw it in, it needs to pe programed.

So, this issue has been closed. I took it to the dealer and they were able to program it and its working fine.

I did want to mention that the tech told me that the ac units will only display the outside temp if they have not been programed. Once they are programed, the outside temp goes away. He has no idea why and it kind of sucks because I liked having it on there. I guess GM never bothered to program it into the ac units even though it can be done.

Just goes to show that some mods are better left alone. This mod cost me an extra $200 to fix something I caused!

Well it's good you git it fixed.
I will make a note of this because the dealer will be replacing my A/C control switch soon too.

My experience was the exact same as yours, LTLux. A/C got noisy, I replaced the fan, still noisy, then I came here. After reading this post, I went right to the dealer to program the new HVAC controls. It cost me $97.94, and about an hour of my time. I haven’t driven much since then, but it’s fine now. The outside temp went away, just as you described as well. I kinda liked it there too since it was closer to glance down from the radio. It always ticked me off that it was sometimes off from the mirror temp though!

While at the dealer, I asked them to reprogram for my Bluetooth VCIM, and they looked at me like I asked them to split an atom! Thanks for posting the info on here, it probably saved me a few hundred more in parts that I would have thrown at it.
