Got a weird situation with the AC on a Tahoe that Im trying to help fix Went with a friend to look at a 06 Tahoe that was up for auction, checked it out AC worked great blew cold. He bought it and I went back with him to pick it up today. The AC would not work today, felt like it was set for heat just blowing hot air. Even hot air thru the vents with the AC and fan off and the temp levers down in the blue. Had a hot *** hour and a half ride back. He thinks the freon leaked out or the compressor is out but Im pretty sure the compressor is working. At least it kicks in when you turn the AC on. I dont know what could have happened to it over a week of just sitting there since we looked at it before. We did put in a new battery before driving off but I dont know if that would have anything to do with it. Any ideas? Thanks

Actually, that seems to happen when disconnecting the battery.
Most of the time, cycling the key a few times will fix it.
I had the same thing happen on or '10 when I swapped the battery.

Well youre right. I helped switch out the steering wheel today and when he hooked the battery back up and went for a ride the ac worked fine. Weird I never had that happen to me and I unhook the neg cable on mine when its sitting for a while
