Apparently my engine has AFM. It’s a 2007 Yukon Denali with the L96 6.2 L. I remember my 2005 5.7L Ram had it and when I removed the muffler I heard it go in and out of V4 mode (drove me crazy). I have even a louder exhaust on the Yukon, but don’t notice any AFM at all. Do these engines have AFM or not?

As @intheburbs stated, your 2007 Denali 6.2 does not have AFM. Neither did the 2008’s.

What is making you think you have AFM?

Oops...my mistake...double checked the RPO and I’ve got the L92. Ive got a ‘15 Yukon too and I get confused sometimes.

I don’t know where I read that I have AFM, but saw it somewhere. Oh well...I don’t want AFM, so no need to deactivate for me. Good news! Maybe I’m thinking of the ‘15 again. Haha!

Well..sorry to waste everyone’s time!

I was aware of the VVT as I’m looking into swapping out the cam. I might delete the VVT to go with a better cam, but still need some more research on the issue.

"Better" is a matter of opinion and personal preference. The VVT is awesome. You can get all kinds of power down low and the same top end power from a smaller cam as a bigger cam but without all the draw backs and having to get a high stall torque converter. Many tuners are scared of VVT because they don't know how to tune it and steer people away from it. As long as you have a good tuner you will be much happier keeping the VVT. Unless you're trying to build a drag strip queen in which case this isn't the best vehicle to start with.
