Has anyone added power heated mirrors to an existing power set up using oem mirrors? I did this in my 99 Cherokee and the harness was already set up for this, so i just plugged in the mirror and turned on the defroster and bam no more foggy mirrors.

Would it be plug and play for an OBS?

I was also interested in this a little while back. I had asked our Old guy Mech, but he just shrugged and walked off.

I had done a quick google search back then and bookmarked this.

I've just never found a pair yet, or verified the wiring...and then spring sprung, so it was left on the back buurner.. until fall of coarse...

I just found these, but they fugly...

That thread is a tease! No biggy tho I'll get it done. I was just wondering if its plug and play. It can be done very easily with a SPDT relay, tie the heater element in to the rear defrost output and you're set. I have the set on order. Probably gonna do a write up since there isnt much info on the subject. Thanks for the input tho!

I'm looking forward to that writeup, especially if they are not PnP.

You have a set on order? What kind? From where? Links please! I want a set! OEM's? Not these kind?

The company that I work for also owns an Auto Garage in the same building. So I get parts at cost and labour for free. The Old guy Mech is an old cat(70's I think) who is our Pricipal Mechanic on file with the MTO. We have some 'A' class mechanics, aprentices, and a service manager. Yesterday the service manager changed over my front shocks and changed my oil, all the other guys were too busy. The Old guy Mech doesn't really do much work anymore, he's more of a mascot/orcacle to the place. The customers love him, and I listen to his advice(most of the time), cause he's older. Mostly now, he just drives the customer's around in the shuttle vehicle. He gets much respect.

Sorry about the thread hijacking. I'd still like a set of heated mirrors!

Got these ordered. I know the mounting is the same as my 96.

If the harness is different (which I doubt) then I'll fab something up. I've had good luck previously with that parts brand. I havent looked into getting new OEM's due to price. I also dont want to spend time picking through junkyards looking for used heated mirrors in decent shape that will cost at least $50 each. I got used to heated mirrors on my Jeep now I must have them on the Hoe lol.

Thanks for the link!

I did a quick google search again and found this writeup.

Essentially pull off the inside triangle trim peice and look for a 8-pin plug going to the mirror. If it's 8 pins, then your factory wired for heat, if it's only 6-pins, then you have some wiring to do.

Ha! I pulled my driver's side apart this afternoon to check how many pins I had. I only had 4-pins! So what does that mean? I only have a power mirror, no heat, no auto-dimming. Even if I buy these mirrors, I would have to make up a wiring harness and run it through the door, relay it to the rear defrogger. That sucks! I was really hoping for a PlugNPlay harness.

I think that I only have to run one wire through the door. I can ground the heat to the door itself?
